1. Sacrificial animals were without spot. Christ was sinless

   • John 8:46 -- "Which of you convinceth Me of sin?"
   • John 18:38 -- "I find in Him no fault"
2. The lamb must be slain. True also of Christ the Lamb of God.
   • Exodus 12:6 -- "Whole assembly shall kill it"
   • Exodus 12:13 -- "When I see the blood"
   • John 12:24 -- "Except a corn of wheat... die"
   • John 3:14,15 -- "Even so must"
   • Hebrews 9:22 -- "Without shedding of blood"
   • Hebrews 10:14 -- "By one offering He hath perfected"
3. The blood must be applied. We must trust in Christ.
   This answers to the believer's act of faith in receiving Christ.
   • Exodus 12:22,23 -- "Ye shall... dip it in the blood"
   • John 6:53,54 -- "And drink His blood" (see verse 47: "Believeth in Me")
   • Romans 3:25 -- "Through faith in His blood"
4. The blood thus applied, provides a perfect protection from judgment
   • Exodus 12:13 -- "When I see the blood, I will pass over you"
   • 1John 1:7 -- "Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin"
   • Hebrews 10:10 -- "Offering... once for all"
   • Hebrews 10:14 -- "By one offering... perfected forever"
   • Hebrews 10:19 -- "Enter into the holiest by the blood"
   • Revelation 5:9 -- "Hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood"

   The blood alone, when sprinkled, made the Israelite absolutely safe from the divine judgment. It was not admiration of the lamb, nor imitation of the lamb, nor affection of the lamb, which made the Israelite safe. And this applies entirely to "Christ our Passover... sacrificed for us" (ICorinthians 5:7).
