1. Christians should know what is coming to pass
   • John 16:13 - "When He, the Spirit of truth is come... He will shew you things to come"
   • 2Peter 1:19 - "Sure word of prophecy... take heed... a light that shineth in a dark place"
   • 1Thessalonians 5:1-5 - "But ye, brethren are not in darkness"
   • Luke 24:25 - "Slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken"

2. The chief events in unfulfilled prophecy
   1. The apostasy (departure from Scriptural truth)
      • 2Thessalonians 2:3 - "A falling away"
   2. The taking away of the church
      • John 14:3 - "I will come again, and receive you unto Myself"
      • 1Corinthians 15:51 - "We shall not all sleep"
      • 1Corinthians 15:52 - "The dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed"
      • 1Thessalonians 4:16,17 - "The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven... the dead in Christ shall rise first... we which are alive... caught up... to meet the Lord in the air"
   3. The works of believers are judged
      • 2Corinthians 5:10 - "We must all appear... judgment seat of Christ"
      • 1Corinthians 3:8 - "Reward according to his own labour"
      • 1Corinthians 3:13 - "Fire shall try every man's work"
      • 1Corinthians 3:14,15 - "Work abide... he shall receive a reward... burned... suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved." (see also Colossians 2:18; 3:24; Revelation 22:12).
           The sins of believers were judged at the cross; the works are judged that due rewards may be given.
   4. The manifestation of the man of sin, and of the Antichrist
      • 2Thessalonians 2:3-10 - "In the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God"
      • Matthew 24:15 - "Abomination... stand in the holy place" (see Daniel 9:27)
      • Revelation 13:1-8 - "They worshipped the beast... blasphemy against God"
      • 1John 2:18 - "Antichrist shall come"
      • Revelation 13:11-18 - "Causeth... them... to worship the first beast"
   5. The great tribulation

   6. The marriage of the Lamb (in heaven)

      • 2Corinthians 11:2 - "I have espoused you to one husband... present you as a chaste virgin to Christ"

   7. The return of the Lord in glory
      • Matthew 24:29,30 - "Immediately after the tribulation... they shall see the Son of Man coming... with power and great glory"
