New Testament prayer is a child asking a Father
The Old Testament basis of prayer was appeal to the character of God as revealed in His dealings with His people (see Psalm 17:7; 31:3; 51:1). The New Testament basis of prayer is relationship.
The believer's prayer life

- Philippians 4:6 - "By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving"

- Acts 1:14 - "Continued with one accord in prayer"
- Romans 12:12 - "Continuing instant in prayer"
- Romans 15:30 - "Strive together with me in your prayers"
- Colossians 4:2 - "Continue in prayer, and watch... with thanksgiving"
- Colossians 4:12 - "Labouring fervently for you in prayers"
- 2Timothy 1:3 - "Without ceasing"
