2. The conditions of acceptable prayer

3. New Testament prayer is a child asking a Father
   The Old Testament basis of prayer was appeal to the character of God as revealed in His dealings with His people (see Psalm 17:7; 31:3; 51:1). The New Testament basis of prayer is relationship.

   • Luke 15:11-24 - "I will arise and go to my father, and will say"
   • Ephesians 1:16-22 - "The Father of glory, may give unto you"
   • Ephesians 3:14-21 - "I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus"
   • 1Thessalonians 3:9-13 - "Now God Himself and our Father"
   • 2Thessalonians 2:16,17 - "And God, even our Father"
4. The believer's prayer life
   • 1Thessalonians 5:17 - "Pray without ceasing." Ceaseless prayer is not so much an act as an attitude of soul. It is taking the place of one who is always dependent and needy.
   • Ephesians 6:18 - "With all prayer and supplication"
   • Philippians 4:6 - "By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving"
   • 1Timothy 2:1 - "Supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men"
   • Acts 1:14 - "Continued with one accord in prayer"
