"Full assurance" is a scriptural expression, occurring three times in the Epistles.

• "The full assurance of faith" (Hebrews 10:22) -- the confidence of a believer that he is saved;
• "the full assurance of understanding" (Colossians 2:2) -- the confidence of an instructed believer who knows how he is saved;
• and the "full assurance of hope" (Hebrews 6:11) -- the confidence of a believer that he will be kept to the end.

The believer's assurance rests upon a believing knowledge of the following points:

1. A believer's assurance rests upon the completeness of atonement (the reconciliation between God and man)
   • John 19:30 - "It is finished"
   • John 17:4 - "I have finished"
   • Hebrews 1:3 - "By Himself purged our sin"
   • Hebrews 10:12 - "One sacrifice for sins for ever"
   • 1Peter 2:24 - "Our sins in His own body" (see also 1Peter 3:18; Hebrews 9:26-28; Galatians 3:13; Acts 13:38,39
2. A believer's assurance rests upon the promises
   • John 10:28 - "They shall never perish"
   • John 3:16 - "Should not perish"
   • 2Timothy 1:12 - "He is able to keep"
   • Philippians 1:6 - "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ"
3. A believer's assurance rests upon the intercessory work of Christ
   • John 17:11 - "Holy Father, keep... those whom Thou hast given Me"
   • Hebrews 7:25 - "He is able to save them to the uttermost"
   • Hebrews 2:18 - "Able to succour [aid] them that are tempted"
   • 1John 2:1 - "If any man sin, we have an Advocate"
4. A believer's assurance rests upon the new nature received
   • John 1:12,13 - "Born... of God"
   • 2Peter 1:4 - "Ye might be partakers of the divine nature"
   • 1Peter 1:23 - "Being born again... of incorruptible [seed]"
   • Colossians 3:4 - "Christ, who is our life"
   • Galatians 2:20 - "Christ liveth in me"
   • John 14:19 - "Because I live, ye shall live"
